Digest:

STABI-REG aims to understand the temporal stability of pest regulation by natural enemies in annual and perennial agroecosystems. The project builds on a unique monitoring program of 120 plots across 5 French regions since 2014 (sebiopag/bacchus network). It will analyze the taxonomic and functional dynamics of generalist predator communities, as well as the role of flora in providing regulation services. The originality of STABI-REG lies in quantifying the combined influence of farming practices, landscape characteristics, and climatic conditions on the sustainability of these regulations. The project extends the achievements of SEBIOPAGSTAR (2020–2022), which highlighted the importance of the landscape context and local disturbance levels on predator diversity and regulation. By addressing the interannual stability of regulations—still poorly documented in ecology—STABI-REG will develop innovative approaches to shed light on biodiversity trajectories and strengthen the sustainability of ecosystem services.

PSH role:

PSH contributes to the long-term monitoring of 20 of the 120 plots monitored in the project. Data on biodiversity, pests, and biological control are collected every year in 20 apple orchards of the low Durance valley study site. PSH participates in the overall dynamics of the project, joint discussions, and joint data analyses.
