• MAIN RESEARCH INTERESTS

Protected cultivation of vegetable crops.

I mainly focus on plant nutrition and crop fertilization, and their impacts on various aspects of biological and biophysical processes in the field. My recent research efforts were directed to the comprehension of  the effects of nitrogen fertilization on plant's susceptibility to pathogenicfungi (Botrytis cinerea,Sclerotinia sclerotiorum,Oidium neolycopersici).

I develop broader -experimental or model-based - approaches to understand and rationalize resource use in vegetable fields. Part of this work is conducted with technical institutes and growers.

2009-2012 -Manzoor Abro: Nitrogen fertilization of the host plant influences susceptibility, production and pathogenicity of Botrytis cinerea secondary inoculum, as well as the efficacy of biological control (directed by P. Nicot).
